abstract |
NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I (R is methyl or ethyl). EXAMPLE:o-(4-N-n-Propylmethylamino-2-hydroxybenzoyl) benzoic acid. USE:A raw material for a fluoran compound useful as coloring dye for coloring recording material such as heat-sensitive recording paper or pressure-sensitive copying paper, etc. For example, a compound shown by formula II useful as coloring dye can be obtained by reacting a compound shown by formula I with 4-ethoxy-2-methyldiphenylamine. PREPARATION:1 mol m-aminophnol derivative shown by formula III is reacted with approximately 1 mol phthalic anhydride to give a compound shown by formula I. The reaction is advantageously advanced in a solvent (e.g., toluene, perchloroethylene) under heating at the reflux temperature of the solvent. |
