abstract PURPOSE: A polymer, obtained by introducing an organosilicon group into the molecular chain ends of a polyester having a specific structure, having improved chemical resistance, capable of exhibiting room temperature curability in the presence of a curing catalyst and suitable for sealing compounds. n CONSTITUTION: A polymer expressed by formula I (R 1 is 1W6C bifunctional hydrocaron; R 2 is 1W12C bifunctional hydrocarbon or ≤4C bifunctional organic group containing thioether bond; R 3 is 1W6C monofunctional hydrocarbon; R 4 is 2W8C bifunctional hydrocarbon or bifunctional hydrocarbon containing 4W8C ester bond; X is hydrolyzable group; a is 0, 1 or 2; m and n are integers 3W200; lis an integer 0W20; k is 0 or 1). For example, a polyester expressed by formu la II is reacted with a mercaptoalkanoic acid expressed by the formula HS- R 1 -COOH at 0.8W1.2 molar ratio OH/COOH at 50W250°C, and the resultant polymer having molecular chain ends bocked with -SH groups is then subjected to addition reaction with an organosilane expressed by formula III, e.g. in the presence of a sensitizer, by irradiation with light to afford the aimed polymer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
