abstract | PURPOSE: To impart excellent impact resistance without detriment to heat distortion resistance, by blending a polyarylene ester with an ethylene/alkyl α,β-unsaturated carboxylate/maleic anhydride copolymer. n CONSTITUTION: 60W99wt% polyarylene ester (A) synthesized from a dihydric phenol and an arom. dibasic acid is blended with 40W1wt% ethylene copolymer (B) composed of 50W90wt% ethylene, 5W49wt% alkyl α,β-unsaturated carboxylate (e.g., ethyl acrylate) and 0.5W10wt% maleic anhydride to obtain the titled resin compsn. As the component A, those composed of a residue of bisphenol A, a residue of terephthalic acid and a residue of isophthalic acid are preferred.
