titleOfInvention Production of catalyst containing rhodium
abstract PURPOSE: To effectively use expensive rhodium by depositing a rhodium component on a silica carrier having the specific surface, pore volume, pore distribution of pore volume, and pore diameter in a specified range. n CONSTITUTION: The silica carrier having 50W600m 2 /g specific surface measured by gaseous N 2 and 0.2W1.5cc/g pore volume measured by a Hg press-in method is prepared. In this case, the pore distribution has a clear peak at 50W200Å pore diameter. When the pore diameter at the maximum peak is expressed as DmaxÅ, the carrier has a pore distribution wherein the pore volume in the pore range shown by the equation is controlled to ≥50% of the volume of pores having 10,000W30Å diameter and the volume of pores having 0.75DmaxW30Å diameter is adjusted to ≤15% of the volume of pores having 10,000W30Å diameter.
