titleOfInvention Production of heat-resistant ethylene-alpha-olefin copolymer composition
abstract PURPOSE:To reduce the titled copolymer composition having extremely improved heat resistance and mechanical properties, by heat-treating an ethylne-alpha-olefin copolymer with a specific unsaturated silane compound and a modified silicone oil. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100pts.wt. etylene-alpha-olefin copolymer having preferably 20-80wt% alpha-olefin content and preferably 5-180 Mooney viscosity is heat- treated with 0.05-10pts.wt. unsaturated silane compound (preferably vinylakoxysilane compound, especially 3-methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane) containing one or more groups shown by formula -Si-OR (R is 1-4C alkyl) in one molecule in the presence of 0.005-2pts.wt. organic radical generator by a kneader, etc., at 100-300 deg.C for 0.5-30min and then (B) 100pts.wt. reaction product of the component A is heat-treated with 2-50pts.wt. hydroxyl group- containing (preferably at end) silicone oil to give the aimed composition.
