titleOfInvention Production of 2-4'-tert.-amylbeonzoyl benzoic acid
abstract PURPOSE: The reaction between tert.-amylbenzene and phthalic anhydride is effected in the presence of anhydrous aluminum chloride, in the coexistence of a polymeric chlorine-binding agent in the reaction system, to give the titled compound which is used as a synthetic intermediate of various organic chemicals in high yield. n CONSTITUTION: When 2-(4'-tert.-amylbnezoyl)benzoic acid is formed by reaction between tert.-amylbenzene and phthalic anhydride in the presence of anhydrous aluminum chloride, a polymeric dehydrohalogenating agent is added to the reaction system. As a polymeric dehydrochlorinating agent, is cited a weak-basic ion-exchange resin and typically a polyethylenimine-substituted crosslinked styrene resin which has a structural unit of the formula (m is 2W10). The objective compound is used as a starting substance for 2-amylanthraquinone which is used in the production of hydrogen peroxide and obtained in high yield according to the present invention. Moreover, the dehydrochlorinating agent can be readily recovered and reused. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
