PURPOSE: A hair cosmetic, obtained by blending a dilong-chain and dishort-chain type quaternary ammonium salt having an iodine value within a specific range, i.e. a specific amount of unsaturated bonds in the molecule with a specific phosphoric acid ester and capable of imparting improved finishing effect and setting property to the hair. n CONSTITUTION: A hair cosmetic, obtained by blending a quaternary ammonium salt, expressed by formula I (R 1 is 14W24C alkenyl; R 2 is 14W24C alkyl or alkenyl; R 3 and R 4 are methyl, ethyl, polyoxyethylene or polyoxypropylene; X - is anion) and having within 35W100 iodine value range with a phosphoric acid ester expressed by formula II (R 5 is 1W22C straight-chain alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkenyl, alkylphenyl or glyceryl; R 6 is H or methyl; R 7 is H, alkali metal, alkyl-substituted ammonium, etc.; R 8 is formula III or R 7 ; n is 0W100) at 1:2W1:5 weight ratio.
