abstract PURPOSE: To improve the light shielding property and electromagnetic transducing characteristic of the titled medium by setting the light transmittance in specified wavelength to a fixed value in the magnetic layer, the coating layer, and the whole medium. n CONSTITUTION: The light transmittance in 900nm wavelength is controlled to ≥2% in the magnetic layer, the light transmittance in 900nm wavelength is adjusted to 1W5% in the coating layer consisting of carbon black and an org. binder, and further the light transmittance in 900mn wavelength is regulated to ≤0.05% in the whole medium having the magnetic layer and the coating layer.
