abstract | PURPOSE:To reduce a difference of the rates of expansion to the temperature and humidity within the surface by eliminating a dimensional variation in case of putting the titled film within a high-humidity atmosphere, by a method wherein anisotropy of the rates of expansion of the temperature and humidity of a polyester film within the surface is made less than a specific value to provide surface roughness Ra so as to fall within a specific range. CONSTITUTION:Polyester, which is a substrate, is aromatic polyester such as polyethylene terephthalate or polyethylene-2, 6-naphthalene dicarboxylate or polyclohexylene dimethylene terephthalate, to which biaxial orientation is applied and is well balanced in the direction of a machine and axis. A film is prepared in thickness to the extent of 30-80mum, anisotropy of the rate of expansion of the temperature and humidity are prepared less than 8X10<-6>/ deg.C and 4X10<-6>/% RH respectively. When the film is prepared so that mean surface roughness Ra on the center line of the film falls within a range of 0.003-0.04mum, the film is suitable for a high-density magnetic recording material, a magnetic layer becomes thinner than that of a standard article disk and high quality in relation to magnetic conversion characteristics or drop out is obtained. |
