| abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain the title pellets being excellent in porosity, heat stability and suitability for molding and having a low impurity content and a uniform shape, by extruding a methanol or mater/methanol solution of an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer saponificate into a specified coagulant and cutting the extrudate. n CONSTITUTION: A solution obtained by dissolving an ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer saponificate of an etylene content of 20W60mol% and a degree of saponification of the vinyl acetate component ≥90mol% in methanol or a water/ methanol (1/9W7/3 by weight) mixture so that the concentration may be 10W50wt% is extruded into a coagulant of -10W40°C, comprising an organic solvent which has a b.p. ≤100°C, is miscible with methanol and can not dissolve said saponificate (e.g., methyl acetate) to form a strand. For example, this strand is withdrawn from the coagulant and washed thoroughly with water to remove efficiently impurities such as sodium acetate and cut to obtain the titled pellets uniform in shape measuring, for example, 2W5mm in diameter and 2W5mm in length. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
