titleOfInvention | Method for removing sulfur oxide |
abstract | PURPOSE: To elevate an adsorbing capacity of the sulfur oxide to the active carbon, and to make the apparatus in a small size by contacting the active carbon impressed the electric voltage with a gas contg. a sulfur oxide, thereby removing the sulfur oxide. n CONSTITUTION: The active carbon is filled in a tower, and the electrode provided with an inner wall of the tower and at an inlet and outlet of a gas to be treated and contacted with the active carbon is impressed with an electric voltage, thereby removing the sulfur oxide. The impressed voltage depends upon the concentration of the sulfur oxide contd. in the gas to be treated. However, the amount of the electric current has a less effect on an absorbing capacity. When an excess amount of the electric current is impressed, the generation of joule's heat increases, thereby making an energy loss. Thus, the impressed voltage is preferably 0.5VW10V per 1cm the distance between the electrodes. The impressed voltage may be an alternating current or a direct current, and is preferably the alternating current in the increasement of the absorbing capacity of the active carbon. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
