abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a polyhydroxy polyether excellent in gas barrier property, melt moldability and drawability, by using a linear polyhydroxy polyether having a specified intrinsic viscosity and a specified melt viscosity as a component. n CONSTITUTION: A polyhydroxy polyether represented by formula I (wherein R 1 is a p-phenylene-based bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group and n is a number) and having an intrinsic viscosity [η] of 0.9W2dl/g and a melt viscosity which lies in the range of 10 3 W10 5 P as determined by extrusion through a nozzle 30mm in length and 1.0mm in diameter under conditions of 240°C and a shear rate of 10sec -1 . Said polyhydroxy polyether can be obtained by reacting an aromatic diol diglycidyl ether of formula II (wherein R 1 is a p-phenylene- based bivalent aromatic hydrocarbon group) with an aromatic diol of formula III in the presence of a catalyst such as a tert. amine or quat. ammonium compound or a tert. phosphine. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio |
