titleOfInvention Production of tertiary olefin
abstract PURPOSE: Niobic acid is used as a catalyst to effect quantitative production of the titled compound almost without formation of by-products such as ethers, e.g., dimethyl ether or dimers such as tertiary olefins. n CONSTITUTION: An alkyl tert.-alkyl ether such as methyl t.-butyl ether, ethyl t.-butyl ether, methyl t.-amyl ether is used as a starting material, and niobic acid is used as a catalyst to effect the reaction at 150W400°C, preferably 200W300°C, and at normal pressure to 10 atmospheric one, to give a tertiary olefin such as isobutylene. n EFFECT: The process according to the present invention gives a product of high purity in high yield. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
