abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a photosensitive material causing scarcely contamination and fog in color by incorporating a specified colorless compd. or its precursor being unstable to alkali. n CONSTITUTION: The photosensitive material contains a colorless compd. expressed by the formula I or its precursor which is untable to alkali. In the formula I, R 1 and R 2 are H atoms, etc.; R 3 is H atom, etc.; R 4 WR 8 are H atom, etc.; the sum of carbon atoms of R 1 WR 8 is ≥8. The alkali-unstable precursor of the compd. expressed by the formula I is such compd. expressed by the formula I wherein the OH groups in the 1- and 4-position of the hydroquinone nucleus are protected with protective groups which are split in alkaline condition.
