titleOfInvention Base film for magnetic recording medium
abstract PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of a change in surface characteristic by heating by providing special structure which can be partially melted at a specific temp. to a PE terephthalate film which is a base layer. n CONSTITUTION: The PE terephthalate which is obtd. by the condensation polymn. from, for example, an ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid is used as an essential component. The component of which the partial melting temp. Tp is in a 90W120°C, more preferably 95W110°C range is used. The coefft. of friction by the contact of the back surface of a magnetic recording medium with a guide consisting of a metal, etc. is increased in long-time running and tape squeaking, partial exfoliation of the magnetic layer, etc. are caused if the Tp is <90°C. The partial exfoliation of the magnetic layer is caused and the magnetic recording characteristic is considerably deteriorated by the exfoliation and dislodgment of the coat layer from the back surface when the Tp exceeds 120°C. Since the Tp is specified in the specific temp. range in the above- mentioned manner, the deterioration in the durability of the running durability is obviated even after long-time running. Exfoliated and dislodged matter are eliminated and the excellent recording and reproducing characteristics are obtd. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1987,JPO&Japio
