titleOfInvention Ethylene oxide adduct, its production and cosmetic and ointment containing same
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain an ethylene oxide adduct which gives no feeling of stickiness in good yields, by reacting hexamethyltetraconsanediol with ethylene oxide in the presence of an alkali metal (alcoholate). n CONSTITUTION: An ethylene oxide adduct of the formula (wherein the sum of m and n has an average of 10W200) is obtained by reacting 2,4,6,10,15,19,23- hexamethyltetracosane-10,15-diol with ethylene oxide in the presence of an alkali metal or its alcoholate. From the viewpoint of the touch, etc., of the ethylene oxide adduct of the formula, it is preferable that the sum of m and n be an average of 50W150. Because of its water solubility, the ethylene oxide adduct can be used suitably as a base component of water/alcohol-type water- based cosmetics such as lotions, hair tonics and toilet water. In addition, it can be easily added to hair lotions and can give a conditioning effect ad a fat addition effect to the hair. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
