titleOfInvention Drying of polyester resin
abstract PURPOSE: To carry out the drying of a low-crystalline polyester resin, preventing the degradation and fusion of the resin, saving the time and energy consumption, by treating the resin with a specific non-solvent prior to drying. n CONSTITUTION: A polyester resin having a heat of crystallization of 0W5cal/g is treated with a non-solvent having a parameter S of 500W3,000 [S=(P×M)/11 (P is vapor pressure mmHg of the non-solvent at 25°C; M is molecular weight of the non-solvent)] and essentially inert to the dissolution and decompositin of the polyester,a nd the resin is dried. The non-solvent is, e.g. benzene, ethyl acetate, acetone, etc. which may contain ≤50wt% other non-solvent. The treatment is carried out for ≥3min, preferably for 3W30min. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
