abstract PURPOSE: To provide a copolymer of a prepolymer, having a star-shaped structure containing a polyester and/or polyester segment and polyamide segment, having high impact resistance, heat-resistance and water-resistance, and capable of giving an elastomer or a large-sized molded article. n CONSTITUTION: The star-shaped prepolymer of formula I (R 1 is ≥3-valent hydrocarbon residue; R 2 and R 3 are aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; E 1 is polyester and/or polyester residue; p≥3), and the star-shaped block copolymer of formula II (R 1 , R 2 , R 3 and E 1 are same as those in formula I; R 4 is aliphatic hydrocarbon residue; k is 1 or 0; m is natural number; p≥3) obtained by the anionic polymerization of a lactam in the presence of said prepolymerj and an alkali- polymerizatijon catalyst. The prepolymer can be prepared by reacting a polyether and/or polyester having ≥3 terminal OH groups with an acid anhydride, converting the terminal carboxylic acid group of the resultant star-shaped polyether (polyester) of formula III to terminal acid chloride, and reacting the product with a lactam. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
