abstract PURPOSE: To provide the titled adhesive consisting of specified polyvinyl acetate emulsion and acrylic polymer and having excellent resistance to water, boiling and heat and strong adhesion to substrate. n CONSTITUTION: A polyvinyl acetate emulsion (A) which forms a film with an acetone insol. content of 30wt% or higher, is prepd. by emulsion polymerization of 5W100wt% vinyl acetate monomer and 50W0wt% copolymerizable monomer (e.g. ethylene) in the presence of a protective colloid consisting of PVA with a weight average degree of polymerization of 200W3,000 or its blend with 3W25wt% water-soluble macromolecular compd. Then 0.2W20pts.wt. (B) acrylic acid polymer having an average degree of polymerization of 2,000W20,000 and a pH of 4 or lower (e.g. homopolymer of acrylic acid) is added to 100pts.wt.
