titleOfInvention | Separation of mercury by solvent extraction using carboxylic acid containing sulfur |
abstract | PURPOSE: To separate mercury almost completely with high extraction performance by extracting mercury in aq. phase, etc. using a solvent i.e. α-alkylthio lauric acid. n CONSTITUTION: Mercury contained in waste water or solid waste is dissolved in aq. medium such as HNO 3 or aq. soln. contg. nitrate, etc. The aq. soln. is shaken with a soln. contg. at least one kind of S-contg. carboxylic acid, i.e. α-alkylthio lauric acid expressed by the formula (wherein R is alkyl). Toluene, etc. is used as diluent for the above-described S-contg. carboxylic acid. By this operation, mercury in the aq. phase is extracted and transferred to the org. phase. The mercury in the org. phase is back extracted completely to aq. phase again when the org. phase is shaken with aq. soln. of ammonium thiocyanate, etc. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
