abstract NEW MATERIAL:Antibacterial substance PIK. Appearance: white needle-like crystal. Molecular formula: C 11 H 15 N 5 O 5 . Elemental analysis value: C 44.03%, H 4.92%, N 23.38%, and O the rest. Melting point: 203W204°C, causing change in quality of blowing during or after melting. Solubility: water-soluble at room temperature, slightly soluble in ethanol, etc., insoluble in acetone. n USE: An antibacterial agent for oral cavity composition such as dentifrice, gargling agent for preventing and suppressing various dental caries. Having no toxicity. n PREPARATION: Any of various bacteria belonging to the genus Streptococcus, preferably Streptococcus faecium-AD1050 strain (FERM BP-714), for example, is subjected to settled culture aerobically by the use of Rogosa liquid medium, the prepared culture solution is centrifuged to collect the mold. Then, the mold is suspended in distilled water, heated, its supernatant liquid is extracted with ethyl acetate, and further purified by a conventional procedure to give the aimed substance. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
