titleOfInvention Silica with high purity and its preparation
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain silica having low radioactivity and extremely high purity being suitable as high performance electronic material by regulating content of Al in the preparation of silica from alkali silicate and acid by the wet process. n CONSTITUTION: High purity silica contg. ≤3ppm Al is obtd. from alkali silicate and acid by the wet process by precipitating silica gel by adding aq. soln. of sodium silicate to HNO 3 acidic soln., wherein the compsn. of the mother liquid of the reaction system after completion of the reaction for the precipitation of silica is regulated so that the compsn. expressed by the content of HNO 3 , NaNO 3 in HNO 3 -NaNO 3 -H 2 O system is within a range between A and D in the table. By separating and recovering the precipitate, high purity silica having ≤3ppm Al content is obtd., with high reproducibility. By the close relation to the regulation of Al content, the content of radioactive elements such as U, Th, etc. and Na also, are reduced to trace amt. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
