titleOfInvention | Electrochromic display device |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain ≥4 colors of display colors with the same picture element by mixing and using an oxidation coloration type EC material (electrochromic material) and reduction coloration type EC material having the coloration polarities and hues different from each other for an org. material. n CONSTITUTION: The electrochromic display device is constituted of glass substrates 1, 2, display electrodes 3 consisting of an SnO 2 film, etc., a counter electrode 4 consisting of a film formed by pressing a mixture composed of a metallic film and carbon, an EC soln. 5 prepd. by dissolving the org. EC material and supporting salt and a porous light scattering body 6 of a thin ceramic plate consisting of alumina, etc. Any solvent which has a large polarity and is electrochemically stable is usable for the EC soln. material and a nonaqueous solvent such as propylene carbonate in addition to water are used for said material. The reduction type and oxidation type EC material at least either one of both of which have ≥2 color forming potentials and have the different color forming hues at each potential are satisfactory. On the other hand, the display of 4 colors; white, rose pink, green and blue is made possible by setting the voltage to be impressed to the electrodes 3 at 4 kinds. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
