abstract PURPOSE: An industrial germicide and algicide, obtained by combination of an aliphatic nitroalcohol derivative and bromoacetic acid ester, exhibiting improved synergistic effect, and suitable for water in paper forming process, various industrial cooling water, metal working oil, textile oil, aqueous paint, coating solution for paper, etc. n CONSTITUTION: An industrial germicide and algicide containing an aliphatic nitroalcohol derivative expressed by formula I (R is H or acetyl), e.g. 1,1-dibromo-1-nitropropanol, and a bromoacetic acid ester expressed by formula II (R is 2W4C saturated or unsaturated bifunctional straight chain hydrocarbon), e.g. 1,2-bis(bromoacetoxy)ethane, preferably at 90:10W1:99, particularly 1:0.5W1:32 ratio as active constituents. n USE: Useful for antiseptic and germicidal use of latex, paste, etc. and prevention of trouble by algae in various waste water systems. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
