titleOfInvention Medicinal drug and its preparation
abstract PURPOSE: To prepare a drug preparation having a density falling within a specific range, and capable of floating upon the gastric juice or the content in stomach, and releasing the drug effectively and slowly from the preparation to the stomach, by mixing a substance forming a gel in water, an oil or fat which is solid at normal temperature, and the drug component, and heating and cooling the mixture. n CONSTITUTION: A mixture of (A) a substance forming gel in water, e.g. cellulosic derivative, polysaccharide, acrylic acid derivative, etc., (B) an oil or fat which is solid at normal temperature, e.g. a 11W27C fatty acid or its ester derivative, a 15W24C alcohol, a phospholipid, etc., and (C) a drug component, is formed, optionally filled in a gelatin capsule, heated at a temperature higher than the melting point of the component B, and left to cool to fix the void formed by the components A and C and obtain a slow releasing drug preparation having a specific gravity of ≤1. The drug preparation floats stably in the stomach, is resistant to disintegration even under the peristaltic motion of the stomach, and releases the drug component continuously at a constant rate. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
