abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a water-absorptive resin improved in water absorptivity, water absorption rate and strength upon absorption of water, by adding a specified crosslinking agent and water to a mixture comprising a water-absorptive resin containing a carboxylate-containing monomer units and an inert inorganic powder and performing crosslinking and distillation of the water. n CONSTITUTION: Water and a crosslinking agent are added to a mixture comprising a water-absorptive resin containing a carboxylate-containing monomer units as a structural component and an inert inorganic powder, and the crosslinking reaction and distillation of the water areperformed to obtain the purpose water-absorptive resin.Said crosslinking agent is at least one member selected from among a copolymer comprising 3W40mol% glycidyl (meth)acrylate (A), 3W50mol% dialkyl (meth)acrylate and/or dialkylaminoalkyl (meth)acrylate (B) and 20W90mol% carboxyl group-free hydrophilic unsaturated monomer (C) copolymerizable with components A and B and a mixture of a copolymer comprising 3W40mol% component A and 10W97mol% component C with a copolymer comprising 3W50mol% component B and 10W97mol% component C. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
