titleOfInvention | Manufacture of lithium battery |
abstract | PURPOSE:To increase adhesion of lithium with a battery case to improve battery performance by forming irregularities on the surface of lithium plate and pressing the lithium plate against the inside of the battery case in order to remove the oxide film. CONSTITUTION:A lithium plate 12, on which irregularities are formed immediately before its insertion, is pressed against the inside of a battery case 3 made of stainless steel with a roller. The pressure for press is controlled so that the irregularities of the lithium plate are eliminated and sufficient adhesion of lithium with the case 3 is obtained. A separator 4, a carbon positive electrode 5, a current collector 6, and electrolyte 10 such as thionyl chloride or sulfuryl chloride serving as electrolyte solvent and positive active material as placed inside the lithium plate 12 to form a lithium battery. Since the active surface of the lithium plate obtained by removing its oxide film safely and easily can be made to adhere on the case, battery performance is increased. |
