abstract PURPOSE: To synthesize 1,2-diketone useful as an intermediate for synthesizing pharmaceuticals or agricultural chemicals in a high yield by oxidizing a compound represented by a prescribed general formula by an indirect electrolytic reaction using circularly ruthenium tetroxide as a mediator. n CONSTITUTION: A compound represented by a formula R 1 -C≡C-R 2 (where R 1 is 1W10C alkyl or aryl and R 2 is acetoxy substituted 1W10C alkyl or aryl) is prepd. The compound is oxidized by an indirect electrolytic reaction using circularly ruthenium tetroxide as a mediator.
