titleOfInvention Production of 3-methylglutaconic acid
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as an aldose reductase inhibitor, in high volume in a short time at a low cost, by culturing a microbial strain belonging to Podosordaria genus and capable of producing methylglutaconic acid in a culture medium. n CONSTITUTION: A microbial strain belonging to Podosordaria genus and capable of producing 3-methylglutaconic acid (e.g. Podosordaria jugoyasan IFO 30421) is cultured in a medium at 20W30°C in slightly acidic state to produce and accumulate 3-methylglutaconic acid in the culture liquid. The objective 3- methylglutaconic acid is separated and purified from the obtained culture liquid. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
