titleOfInvention Modified magnesia and production thereof
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain modified magnesia having excellent digestibility and affinity to organic materials, and useful as a filler for resins, etc., by contacting magnesia with an organic solvent containing a specific aliphatic and/or aromatic carboxylic acid. n CONSTITUTION: A surface-modifying agent consisting of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and/or aromatic carboxylic acid of formula (n≥6) having one or more COOH groups in a molecule (e.g. benzoic acid, phthalic acid, etc.) is added to a water-insoluble organic solvent free of COOH group (e.g. xylene), and the solution is made to contact with magnesia having an average particle diameter of e.g. 0.1W10μ to obtain modified magnesia containing said carboxylic acid adsorbed to the surface. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
