titleOfInvention Production of hydrous elastomer composition
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain a hydrous elastomer compsn. which has high elasticity and excellent shape retention and uniformly contains water, by dispersing a polyacrylate monovalent salt in a polyhydric alcohol and adding water to the resulting mixture to make it uniform. n CONSTITUTION: 5W30wt% polyacrylate monovalent salt which is insoluble in a polyhydric alcohol and has a weight-average MW of 1×10 6 or above and stoichiometrical neutralization ratio of 50W100% is dispersed in a polyhydric alcohol. While keeping the temp. of the mixture at room temp. to 100°C, 1W30pts.wt. water is mixed with 100pts.wt. mixture by stirring to make it uniform. It is necessary to use a polyacrylate monovalent salt having high cohesiveness to provide an elastomer compsn. having high elasticity. A polyacrylate monovalent salt having a weight-average MW of 1×10 6 or above is used. When the compsn. is used for the coating of the skin, e.g., as a pack, the salt is preferable to the free acid from the viewpoints of non-irritation and shape retention. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
