titleOfInvention Polyester film
abstract PURPOSE:The titled biaxially oriented film which has improved mechanical properties in the width direction and isotropic balance, wherein a molecular chain of polyester having optical anisotropy is arranged in parallel with a film plane and zigzag in the plane. CONSTITUTION:(A) A dicarboxylic acid (e.g., terephthalic acid, etc.) is polymer ized with (B) a diol (e.g., hydroquinone, etc.) to give a polyester for forming an optically anisotropic melt having >=0.5 intrinsic viscosity. It is extruded from a blown-film die in a flow direction of the black arrow and an expanding gas is made to flow in a flow direction of the white arrow. When the draw ratio drl in the width direction perpendicular to drawing direction is d/D (d is valve diameter; D is die diameter) and the draw ratio dr2 in the drawing direction is v/V (v is drawing rate; V is lineal speed of extrusion), a film is formed to make >=2.5 dr1/dr2 so that the aimed film wherein the belt-like zones A and B with the width h are in a row, alternately in the film plate and ar ranged in zigzag, is obtained.
