titleOfInvention | Manufacture of biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate film |
abstract | PURPOSE:To obtain a biaxially oriented polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film with higher mechanical strength and Young's modulus by a method wherein an unstretched and amorphous filmy PeT is longitudinally stretched through at least two stages and, after that, laterally stretched and further subjected to thermosetting. CONSTITUTION:Firstly, PET polymer is fully dried. Secondly, the dried PET polymer is molten and extruded with an extruder through a filter and a mouth piece so as to be cast onto a rotary drum in order to be quenched and solidified. Thirdly, the resultant film is longitudinally stretched in the first stage at the orienting temperature of 120-150 deg.C so as to realize DELTAn of 0.005-0.025 at the draw-ratio exceeding yield point. (The obtained film is an A film.) The A film is longitudinally stretched in the second stage at 60-110 deg.C. (The obtained film is a B film.) The B film is laterally stretched in the daw-ratio of 430% or more at 70-120 deg.C. Finally, the resultant film is set thermally and taken up. |
