titleOfInvention Production of ultrafine fiber
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain ultrafine fibers stably without causing broken fibers and fluffs, etc., by adding a dispersed phase having a specific relation between melt viscosity and shear rate based on the content to a polyester consisting essentially of ethylene terephthalate units and melt spinning the resultant mixture. n CONSTITUTION: (B) 0.2W7wt% dispersed phase having a relation between melt viscosity measured at 275°C and shear rate based on the content thereof satisfying the formula [W is wt% of the dispersed phase in the polyester composition; η r1 (W) and η r2 (W) are respectively melt viscosities (poise) of the polyester composition containing W wt% dispersed phase, measured at 0.01sec -1 shear rate (r 1 ) and 5.0sec -1 shear rate (r 2 ); η r1 (0) and η r2 (0) are similarly melt viscosities (poise) of the polyester composition containing no dispersed phase] in incorporation in polyethylene terephthalate having 0.64 intrinsic viscosity to (A) a polyester consisting of ethylene terephthalate as main repeating units, and the resultant mixture is melt spun at ≥3,000m/min taking off speed to give the aimed ultrafine fibers having ≤0.5 denier per fiber. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
