titleOfInvention | Valanimycin and derivative and production thereof |
abstract | NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I[Y is expressed by formula II or III (R is H or lower alkyl)] and a derivative thereof. USE:An antimicrobial and antitumor agents. PREPARATION:A microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptomyces, and having the ability to produce valanimycin expressed by formula I, e.g. MG456-hF10 (FERM-P No. 8146), is cultivated in a culture medium to accumulate the valanimycin in the culture. The resultant valanimycin is then obtained from the culture. The physicochemical properties of the compound expressed by formula I are as follows; Appearance; Colorless oily substance. Solubility; Soluble in water, methanol, ethanol, etc. and insoluble in chloroform and n- hexane. Color reaction; Positive to the potassium permanganate test and molybdenum-sulfuric acid reaction, etc. and negative to the 2,4- dinitrophenylhydrazine test. Reactivity; Readily reactive with an amine to form an adduct, etc. |
