titleOfInvention Production of photographic silver halide emulsion
abstract PURPOSE:To remarkably improve the single dispersibility of silver halide particles and the perfectness of the shape of the particles when a core-shell type emulsion is produced, by specifying PAg and PH during the formation of the shells. CONSTITUTION:When a core-shell type emulsion is produced in stages including a stage in which a liq. contg. dispersed silver bromide-base silver halide particles is mixed with an aqueous soln. of a water soluble silver salt and an aqueous soln. of a water soluble alkali metallic halide to form silver chloride-base shells, PAg and PH are regulated to <=5.5 and <=3.5, respectively during the formation of the shells. Core particles used contain silver bromide as the base and may contain <30mol% silver chloride and less than several mol% silver iodide. The silver chloride-base shells may contain <30mol% silver bromide and less than several mol% silver iodide. Silver nitrate, silver perchlorate or the like is used as the water soluble silver salt, and a sodium halide, a potassium halide or the like as the water soluble alkali metallic halide. Thus, a core-shell type emulsion contg. silver halide particles having superior single dispersibility and superior perfectness of the shape is obtd.
