titleOfInvention Production of aromatic polyester yarn
abstract PURPOSE: To obtain the titled yarn useful as tire cord, rope, etc., having high strength and high modulus of elasticity, by subjecting an aromatic polyester showing anisotropy during melting to melt spinning, and immersing the prepared yarn in a specific organic liquid-phase heating medium to heat-treat it. n CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyester [preferably copolyester comprising 40W70mol% p-hydroxybenzoic acid, 15W30mol% terephthalic acid, and 15W30mol% aromatic diol] showing anisotropy during melting is subjected to melt spinning. The prepared yarn is immersed in an organic liquid-phase heating medium (preferably having ≥200°C boiling point, such as alkylnaphthalene, etc.) except alcohol, acid and alkali, and heat-treated, to give the aimed yarn. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
