titleOfInvention Production of polycyanoaryl ether
abstract PURPOSE: To facilitate the MW increase of the titled polymer and to increase its rate of polymerization, by reacting a dihalogenobenzonitrile with an alkali metal salt of 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene at a specified ratio. n CONSTITUTION: A dihalogenobenzonitrile is reacted with an alkali metal salt of 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene in the presence of a neutral polar solvent (e.g., dimethylacetamide) and the obtained reaction product is treated with water or an alcohol. In said polymerization reaction, said dihalogenobenzonitrile and said 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene alkali metal salt are each fed in an amount of 0.07W0.2mol per dl of said neutral polar solvent. The feed ratio of said dihalogenobenzonitrile to 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene alkali metal salt is preferably such that the both are fed in equimolar amounts or said dihalogenobenzonitrile is somewhat excess over the 2,7-dihydroxynaphthalene alkali metal salt. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
