abstract PURPOSE: A feed for improvement of meat quality that is composed of powder and/or extracts of heads, tails, bones, meat and skin except for fat around internal organs of a kind of sea snake, as essential constituents, thus improving taste of fat and softening meat quality, when it is given to domestic animals for meat. n CONSTITUTION: ERABU UMIHEBI (a sea snake) are dressed into its head, body and tail. The internal organs and fat surrounding them are removed from the body to collect skins, meat and bones. These skins, meat and bones are cut into pieces of an appropriate size and, when necessary, defatted with a solvent. Then, the product is dried by freezing or standing, crushed mechanically to give the objective feed for improving meat quality. Or the above-mentioned skins, meat and bones are cut into pieces of an appropriate size, dipped in water, heated at about 100°C for 1W3hr. The filtrate is concentrated, the concentrate is freeze-dried to give the objective improver in the form of a powder. The feed is admixed to usual feed about 5W50%. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
