abstract PURPOSE:To produce the titled resin composition free from halogen, and generating little smoke in combustion, by compounding a specific ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer with hydrated magnesia, an organic peroxide vulcanizing agent and gamma-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane at specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be produced by compounding, as essential components, (A) 100pts.(wt.) of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of >=30wt% with (B) 80-220pts. of hydrated magnesia, (C) 1-10pts. of an organic peroxide vulcanizing agent (e.g. dicumyl peroxy-diisopropylbenzene) and (D) 0.1-5pts. of gamma-methacryloxypropyl trimethoxysilane.
