abstract | PURPOSE: To provide a storage-type liquid crystal composition containing a specific electron-donative amorphous aromatic organic compound as a dopant and capable of keeping and displaying focal conic state and homeotropic state under the application of the same electric potential. n CONSTITUTION: The objective storage-type liquid crystal composition exhibiting cholesteric-nematic phase transition contains an electron-donative amorphous aromatic organic compound having excellent planar structure {e.g. bis[bis(1,2- diphenylphosphine)ethane]palladium, 2,2'-bis(4,5-dimethylimidazole), 2,2'-bithio phene, etc.} as a dopant. The amount of the dopant compound is preferably about 0.2W3.0wt%. n EFFECT: The composition gives a liquid crystal display exhibiting high electro- optical hysteresis effect, displaying a large quantity of data in high contrast ratio, writable by type-in technique and drivable stably. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
