abstract PURPOSE:To provide a cosmetic having excellent applicability, giving excellent finished skin, capable of forming a thick coating layer on the skin when applied in the presence of water and giving improved makeup, by using an oil, a dehydrated clay mineral, a sucrose derivative, and powder as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The objective cosmetic contains (A) 2-60wt% oil (e.g. liquid paraffin, squalane, silicone oil, etc.), (B) 10-30% dehydrated clay mineral (e.g. talc, kaolin, mica, etc., dehydrated with heat or by vacuum deaeration, etc.), (C) 2-25% sucrose derivative, and (D) 1-92% powder (e.g. mica, titanium dioxide, etc.). The cosmetic has remarkably high durability on the skin compared with conventional cosmetics containing oil and wax. The sucrose derivative is obtained by esterifying eight OH groups of sucrose completely with a 2-6C acid, e.g. sucrose octaisobutyrate.
