NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I (R and R 1 are H or acyl; R 2 and R 3 are H or alkyl). n EXAMPLE: 1'-Deoxy-1' dimethylphosphono-β-D-fructofuranoxyluracil of formula II. n USE: An agent to suppress the biosynthesis of nucleic acid, and expected to be useful as a carcinostatic agent and antiviral agent. n PREPARATION: The anhydronucleoside of formula III is treated with a mineral acid, or acylated after the treatment with a mineral acid.
