titleOfInvention | Production of cinnamic acid ester |
abstract | PURPOSE: To obtain a cinnamic acid ester easily in high selectivity, by reacting a styrene compound with CO and O 2 in the presence of a specific catalyst having long catalytic life and an alcohol, thereby effecting oxidative carbonylation of the compound. n CONSTITUTION: A styrene compound of formula (R 1 is H, halogen, 1W4C alkyl or alkoxy; R 2 is 1W6C alkyl) such as styrene, a 1W4C aliphatic alcohol such as methanol, CO, and O 2 are made to react with each other in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a palladium halide (e.g.PdCl 2 ), a copper or iron salt (e.g. potassium acetate) and an organic earth metal salt (e.g. potassium acetate) and an organic acid (e.g. acetic acid), at room temperature W 200°C, preferably 60W160°C. The oxidative carbonylation takes place by the reaction to obtain the objective compound such as methyl cinnamate. n EFFECT: The catalytic life can be prolonged by the addition of an organic acid as a constituent component of the catalyst and the reaction can be carried out stably over a long period. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio |
