titleOfInvention Cosmetic having improved light resistance
abstract PURPOSE:A cosmetic, obtained by incorporating a urocaninic acid ester as an ultraviolet light absorber having improved stability with other components, capable of preventing deterioration or discoloration by light, particularly ultraviolet light and having improved storage stability and light resistance. CONSTITUTION:A cosmetic obtained by incorporating >=0.01wt%, preferably 0.1-5wt%, based on the cosmetic, 3-22C alkyl urocaninate, e.g. propyl urocaninate or isostearyl urocaninate, having 290nm maximum absorption wave length, readily soluble in oily components, and having improved water-solubility by forming a salt of the ester with an acid, no irritancy or allerginicty to the skin, improved safety and sufficient ultraviolet light absorption effect with other components. The above-mentioned urocaninic acid ester may be either one of the free and the salt forms. The cosmetic is used as toilet water, milky lotion, cream, oil, foundation, eye shadow, etc.
