PURPOSE: To provide an antiasthmatic agent containing a specific 1,4- benzoquinone derivative, having 5-lipoxigenase-inhibiting action, and useful for the prevention and remedy of various diseases caused by the formation of SRS-A. n CONSTITUTION: The objective agent contains the compound of formula I {R 1 and R 3 are alkyl, alkoxy, amino, etc.; R 2 is H, halogen, alkyl, etc.; A and D are alkylene; B is CH=CH, group of formula II, C≡C, etc.; when m is 1, lis 0 or 1, and when m is 0, l is also 0; E is group of formula III [R 4 and R 6 are R 1 ; R 5 is R 2 , G-C≡C-R 8 (G is alkylene; R 8 is alkyl), etc.], or group of formula IV (R 7 is H or methyl)}, or formula V (R 11 is OH or alkoxy; R 12 is H or R 12 ; R 13 is H or alkyl; M is alkylene; Q is CH=CH, group of formula II, C≡C or CH 2 -CH 2 ) as an active component.
