titleOfInvention Production of amylanthraquinone
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful for the production of H 2 O 2 , in high efficiency, by cyclizing 2-(4'-amylbenzoyl) benzoic acid in sulfuric acid, etc., adding water to the reaction mixture to lower the acid concentration, and extracting and separating the precipitated reaction product with a solvent. n CONSTITUTION: 2-(4'-Amylbenzoyl) benzoic acid of formula III derived from phthalic anhydride of formula I and amylbenzene of formula II is cyclized in sulfuric acid or fuming sulfuric acid at 70W180°C for 0.5W8hr, and the reaction mixture is diluted with water to an acid concentration of ≤50wt% under cooling. The diluted solution is cooled to 0W40°C to precipitate the reaction product containing 2-amylanthraquinone of formula IV. The product is filtered, washed with water to remove the acid, dried until the remaining water is essentially completely removed, and extracted with a solvent to obtain the objective compound of formula IV. n EFFECT: The extraction of the objective compound can be performed in a short time, with reduced amount of solvent, without causing the generation of an emulsion. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
