abstract PURPOSE:To permit lapped printing to be performed with high speed by a small-size printer without causing any color shift by packing plural color inks into a film when it passes through an ink storage. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 22 is set in such a way that heating elements 21 arranged slantly to the moving direction of a film 11 between fixed rollers 12 and 13. When ink in an ink storage is heated by the heating elements 21, air bubbles are produced between the head 22 and ink, and the ink is jetted from the storage by the pressure and transferred to a recording paper 24. Inks of yellow, magenta, and cyanine colors are packed in order into the film 11 in ink storages 18-20, and when the film 11 is faced the head 22, the first color ink is printed on the paper 24. The film 11 alone is sent by the pitch P of one color ink, the second color ink is printed, and the third color ink is likewise printed. The paper 24 is sent out, and printing is made for the second and third lines in the same manner. The film 11 is cleaned up by a cleaner 26.
