titleOfInvention Novel phenylacetic acid or phenylthioacetic acid derivative and plant growth reglator comprising same as active ingredient
abstract NEW MATERIAL:A phenylacetic acid or phenylthioacetic acid shown by the formula I (X is O, or S) and its salt, ester or amide. n EXAMPLE: 3-(2'-Chloro-4'-trifluoromethylphenoxy)phenylacetic acid 1-methyl-2- methoxyethyl ester. n USE: A plant growth regulator such as a herbicide, etc., having plant hormone action of auxin type, showing killing activity against or plant growth inhibitory action on some plants, providing crops with no phytotoxicity, and further useful as an intermediate for drugs and agricultural chemicals and drugs as well. n PREPARATION: A compound shown by the formula II (Y is halogen) is reacted with an alkali metallic salt shown by the formula III (M 1 is alkali metal) in an inert solvent to give a compound shown by the formula I when X is O. This compound is dehydrated with a compound shown by the formula R 1 OH (R 1 is lower alkyl, aryl, etc.) in an inert solvent in the presence of a catalyst, to give a compound shown by the formula I. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
