titleOfInvention Production of modified vinyl ester-ethylene copolymer
abstract PURPOSE: To produce the titled copolymer having improved characteristics, facilitating the precipitation, washing and drying of the polymer, by adding a vinyl monomer having a specific solubility coefficient to a vinyl ester-ethylene copolymer latex. n CONSTITUTION: (A) A copolymer latex prepared by the emulsion polymerization of a mixture of a vinyl ester (e.g. vinyl formate) and ethylene at a weight ratio of 4:6W9:1 is added with (B) a vinyl monomer having a solubility coefficient to the component A of ≥8.5 (e.g. acrylic acid), and the obtained suspension system is subjected to the graft-polymerization preferably at 60W130°C to obtain the objective copolymer. n COPYRIGHT: (C)1986,JPO&Japio
